Double Competition Success for Talented Brickwork Student
After recently becoming Senior Champion at the prestigious Guild of Bricklayers North West Competition, brickwork student and Harry Fairclough Construction Ltd apprentice Jordan Ireland has doubled his success with a win at the SkillBuild North West bricklaying competition.
Held at Hopwood Hall College, Jordan represented Riverside College in the competition and competed against bricklaying students from colleges across the North West.
Once again Jordan’s performance was outstanding, demonstrating a high level of skill and precision to win the competition and take home the gold medal; his second competition success in a matter of weeks.
Jordan has an exciting year ahead of him now with a place achieved in both the Guild of Bricklayers national finals in June and the SkillBuild national finals in November which could earn Jordan a place on Team UK at WorldSkills UK.
Darren Moore, Programme Area Leader for Construction and Engineering at Riverside College, said “I am over the moon with what Jordan has achieved. Winning one major competition was great news but to complete the double is an outstanding achievement! He has approached both competitions with a very professional attitude and it has paid off for him.
“We are all very excited about the national finals and I am sure Jordan will do well, both the college and his employers Harry Fairclough Construction are very proud of what he has achieved. I must say a big thank you to Jordan’s employer Harry Fairclough Construction for allowing him to attend extra training sessions in preparation for the competitions. I wish Jordan and all the very best of luck in the national finals.”
