Students from the catering department at Riverside College have been celebrating this week after news that the menu they have submitted for the British Culinary Federation ‘Student Cook and Serve Team of the Year 2013’, had placed them in the finals of the competition.
The team of students who are currently studying on the level 2 and level 3 Catering and Hospitality courses are now preparing to take on some of the best catering colleges in the country to challenge for the top prize.
Kayleigh Owen who is currently studying on the level 2 Food and Beverage Services course said, “I was really excited when I heard we had made it through and am really looking forward to going down to Stratford-Upon Avon College in May to compete in the finals.”
Mark Carroll who is currently studying his level 3 said, “We thought long and hard about our menu because we wanted to utilise seasonal products and also use all of the practical skills we have gained so far on the course. We are practicing really hard and are feeling confident. We are looking forward to showcasing our menu in the final.”
