Riverside College Governor on the Queens New Year Honours List

Riverside Governor, Valerie Allen, has been awarded an MBE in this year’s New Year Honours List.

She received the accolade for services to the community and business in Warrington and Halton.

As well as being a College Governor at Riverside College, Valerie has also studied a Higher Education Business qualification at the College before progressing on to Edge Hill University to complete her BSc at Edge Hill University.

As a local businesswoman and Vice-Chair of Halton Chamber of Commerce, Valerie encourages businesses to get involved in the community and provide opportunities for young people.

On receiving the prestigious award, Valerie said “I am absolutely delighted and thrilled with this honour, it is amazing and I still can’t believe it.”

She now is looking forward to going to the Palace in the summer to receive her medal.
