Open Evening 18th Nov 2015 – Come and ‘Have a Go’

On Wednesday 18th November 5-7pm, Riverside College invites you to come to their Open Evening event and experience first hand some of the courses available, by having a go at lots of different practical activities on the night.
 

Engineering & Construction

Brickwork (Room EC4)

• Enjoy a tour of the workshops, and receive advice and guidance
• View demonstrations of brick laying skills from two current students.
• Have a go at – mortar laying and brick buttering

 
Construction & Joinery (Room EC5)

• Enjoy a tour of the workshops, and receive advice and guidance
• View joinery demonstrations from two current students
• Have a go at – sawing timber, making timber joints and various other joinery skills

 
Plumbing (Room EC6 & EC7)

• Enjoy a tour of the workshops, and receive advice and guidance
• View plumbing demonstrations from two current students
• Have a go at – pipe cutting, pipe bending and push fit pipework

 
Electrical Installation (Room EC12)

• Enjoy a tour of the workshops, and receive advice and guidance
• View electrical work demonstrations from two current students
• Have a go at – cutting cable, wiring a plug, and various other electrical skills

Motor Vehicle

• Enjoy a tour of the workshops, and receive advice and guidance
• View motor vehicle skills from current Riverside students
• Have a go at – a ‘pit-stop Challenge’ and run a leader board

IT & Games Design

• Enjoy a tour of the IT suites, and receive advice and guidance
• View games design skills from a current Riverside student
• Have a go at – play ‘Rocket Blast’ and ‘Subcontracted’, games created by Riverside students David Boardman and Scott Sewards

Catering and Hospitality

• View cookery demonstrations and enjoy a tour of our training kitchens and state of the art working Restaurant
• Have a go at – FREE food tasting in the restaurant; try our home made sweets and other delicious gourmet treats

Health & Social Care and Childcare

• View demonstrations and enjoy a tour of our new medical training ward facilities

Hair, Beauty, Nails & Media Make-up

• View hair, nail and make-up design demonstrations from Riverside staff and students
• Enjoy a tour of our brand new salons and nail bar facilities
• Have a go at – special effects make up, hair-ups and nail art
