Make Over for New Look Customers by Hairdressing Student

Riverside hairdressing student Louise Dawson has had a great kick start to her career after showcasing her skills in New Look by giving their customers a makeover in the store.

Louise, who is in her third year at the College, was approached by the store after they became aware of a Facebook page she had set up to display her creations. A company representative contacted Louise via social media and asked her if she would be interested to come to the Widnes store and restyle customers hair as they shopped.

Louise said, “I thought it was a great opportunity to gain some fabulous experience and develop links for when I finish my course. I have now been to the shop four times and last time I enlisted the help of two other students to come with me, as I was inundated with people wanting their hair restyled. I have really enjoyed the experience and New Look said I can go back anytime.

“I started on a hairdressing course a few years ago after going to an open evening at the College. Initially I was unsure that I would be able to able to do the work but they tutors at the College were extremely encouraging and my confidence grew.

“I have already managed to secure wedding and hen party jobs from this experience and hope to start my own business after completing my qualifications in hairdressing. I feel extremely positive about my future career and would encourage anyone who is considering retraining later in life to do it, you are never too old.”
