Riverside College Bakes for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
Staff and students at Riverside College helped to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, taking part in the nationwide ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ event on the 28th of September.
Delicious cakes and bakes created by students and staff at the college were on sale for a donation to raise money for the cause.
Along with the cake sale, Level 2 Catering students took the opportunity to test their creative skills with a completion for best cake. In pairs, the students baked wonderful cakes with different flavours and designs to impress the judges and be crowed ‘bake-off champion’.
It was tough to choose a winner, but eventually two teams won joint first place; Joanna Barry & Brendan Almeida and Jasmine Shacklock & Alistair McCulloch.
The cakes then went on sale, with a fantastic £225 raised on the morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Joanna Leather, catering tutor at Riverside College said “The Coffee Morning was a wonderful event, it was a lot of fun and the best part was raising money towards such a great cause. The students really enjoyed themselves and demonstrated some outstanding baking techniques and choice of flavours.”
