Jacqui Scott
Head of Teaching and Learning Standards
I joined Riverside College in May 1996 after starting as a trainee teacher in 1995. I teach on the PGCE/Certificate in Education and am also a personal and academic tutor on the PGCE/Cert Ed.
I have taught the Assessor Coach Level 4 Apprenticeship standards and have also taught the Award in Education and Training.
Prior to joining the Teacher Education team, I worked as a Business Management lecturer teaching across a range of levels including Level 2 to Level 5.
Expertise and interests
I am hugely passionate about teacher development and have a keen interest in initiatives where teachers are supported to trial new TLA strategies with their peers. I understand the power of teachers taking ownership for their own development and the positive impact of supportive learning communities. My favourite PGCE/Certificate in Education module is called Developing Teaching Learning and Assessment in PCET and encourages trainee teachers trial and reflect upon different strategies concerned with behaviour, assessment and inclusion. I am a huge believer in the power of education to change lives and to promote social mobility. When I pursued my MA I researched the impact of HE in FE and have always been a huge advocate of colleges offering HE to promote inclusion and widen participation.
External Experience
I worked as a Reviewer with the Quality Assurance Agency contributing to quality reviews at other Higher Education institutes.
Prior to teaching I worked as an Operations Manager for a logistics company where I started as a Graduate Management Trainee.
