Tutor Foundation and Top Up Degree in Education
Education and teaching have always been my passion, this is reflected within my lectures they are always energised and interesting with lots of discussions, my learners always leave feeling eager to learn and explore more.
I joined Riverside College in 2015 and I mainly teach adults on the Foundation Degree in Education and BA (Hons) Education. I work in close partnership with Staffordshire University to deliver both of these programmes, securing excellent feedback and results.
In addition to this I deliver an evening class to Level 3 Teaching Assistants and also Level 3 T – Level students studying the assisted teaching course. In the past I have also taught on Level 1 and Level 3 Health and Social Care and Access to Higher Education.
Expertise and interests
During the span of my 28-year education and teaching career I have implemented various roles in various capacities, including curriculum manager for a large Health and Social care department, Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University on the Early Childhood Studies Programmes. Other roles included Standards verification and quality roles across the country for Pearson which involved visiting numerous FE establishments to support and guide in terms of quality delivery and high expectations. In addition to this I was invited to advise, write, and develop Early Years qualifications alongside recognised researchers in the early years field.
Qualifications and Development
I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Childhood Studies, PGCE, Masters Degree in Education, Advanced Teacher Status and FHEA. My current research interests are focused on and around the predetermined outcomes for the impoverished and working-class within society in relation to educational attainment, this is contributing to my Doctorate within education. Other areas of interest and expertise include safeguarding within education, and how government policy influences education and mental wellbeing within education.
