Creative Students Impress at London Fashion Week
Talented Hair and Media Makeup students at Riverside College were given a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talents, providing hair and makeup for models at a London Fashion Week show by top designer Kolchagov Barba.
Held at MTV studios in Camden, London Fashion Week is a clothing trade show organised by the British Fashion Council which showcases over 250 designers to a global audience of media influencers and retailers.
Four students, along with tutors Amy Kane and Gill Collings, took part in the global event in which over 5,000 press and buyers attended.
The future makeup artists worked as part of a professional team, applying hair and makeup on 15 models in four hours under the design brief of ‘Boiled Sweets’. The students were provided with makeup packs and hair accessories and used skill and technique to meet the brief.
The students thrived under the pressure, impressing their tutors with their creativity. The models then displayed the work to a packed audience on the catwalk.
Amy Kane, Media Makeup tutor at Riverside College said, “Our students had an amazing time working at a fast pace in a large team with top designers and top models. The experience was a great opportunity for them to display their creative talents which they have learnt so far. I was really impressed with their work.”
