Gospel singer inspires ‘Halton Voices’
On Tuesday 7th June world renowned Gospel singer Tyndale Thomas delivered a workshop at Cronton Sixth Form College.
For the day the college’s Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts and Halton Youth Choir combined forces and came together to form ‘Halton Voices’.
Pupils from St Peter & Paul Catholic College, The Heath Technology College and Bankfield High School joined students at Cronton Sixth Form College, forming a choir of over fifty singers.
The event was organized by Janet Whittingham, Music Advisory Officer for Halton Borough Council and David Lloyd-Mostyn, Head of Music at Cronton Sixth Form College’s Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts.
David said, “Tyndale spent the whole day teaching us songs and demonstrating the Gospel style of music to the choir. He is an inspirational vocal leader and at one point we were treated to a soulful A cappella solo which showcased his incredible voice.”
The choir will performing two of Tyndale’s compositions at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on Thursday 30th June 2011 as part of the ‘Feast of Choirs’ concert, made up of choirs from throughout the UK and from Germany.
