GETRAG Ford Transmissions Donate Brand New Test Car
27th May 2014
GETRAG Ford Transmissions, based in Halewood, recently donated a Volvo test car to Riverside College’s Motor Vehicle department.
The vehicle was previously used only for testing purposes at GETRAG and with testing complete, was kindly donated to the College. It will be used to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the new vehicle technologies emerging in the automotive industry.
The vehicle, a 2010 Volvo C30 R-Design D2 worth around £10,000, was donated in recognition of apprenticeship links in partnership with the College and GETRAG. The College currently has four apprentices at the company.
Alan Seeley, Human Resources Manager at GETRAG Ford Transmission said “It is wonderful to be able to make a contribution like this to Riverside College. The vehicle was made available in order to further knowledge and increase the skills of apprentices in all aspects of Automotive Engineering.
“We hope that our contribution to the Skills agenda in this way will further increase the awareness and appetite for Engineering in the region”.
Jayne Smith, Head of Employer Services at Riverside College, said “The students and staff at Riverside cannot thank GETRAG enough for the very kind donation. This is an outstanding resource and a very valued addition to our vehicle fleet”.
