What is this course about?
This qualification is designed to develop higher level skills for a career as an advanced nail technician. Through demonstrations and working on clients in the colleges industry nail salon, you will learn highly developed nail enhancement techniques which includes 3D nail art services, gel nail systems, liquid and powder nail enhancements and creative nail structures. Your practical skills are combined with the study of business and promotional services.

What will I learn on this course?
On this course you will learn advanced skills in nail services treatments including gel and acrylic nail systems, poly dip, 2D and 3D nail art designing, creative nails and techniques. As part of this course, you will be also required to work on English and Maths and complete an industry placement, as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to higher education

Entry requirements:
A Level 2 qualification in Nail Services or industry experience is required. You may be required to attend a trade test.

Career opportunities as a nail technician on cruise ships with Steiner, Nail bars, Spas, Beauty Salons, progression onto a teaching or training qualification (depending on experience) or self-employment.

How will I be assessed?
Your practical skills will be assessed by tutor observations of your work. You will also be assessed on your theory knowledge throughout the year, by written assignments or online testing.

Are there any costs associated with the course?
Kit – NSI Level 3 £178.00 (subject to change for September), you must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including a nail room, three hairdressing salons, two beauty salons and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
