What is this course about?
This is the opportunity for those who have already completed their Level 2 hairdressing qualification to advance their hairdressing skills and explore new treatments and technical developments within the industry. On the course, you will improve all your hairdressing techniques, and be introduced to new skills in hair extensions, colour correction, and advanced cutting practices. You will organise and work on photo shoots, hair, and fashion shows.

Entry Requirements:
You require a Level 2 in Hairdressing. You may be required to attend a trade test and an interview.
What will this course lead on to?
You could progress to work as a stylist in a salon. salon management, self-employment or a Higher Education Level 4 Hairdressing qualification.
What will I learn on this course?
The course consists of written assignments/tasks/tests and practical assessments. Within the programme, units you will participate in; creative competition work; advanced cutting techniques., the dressing of hair to create “high fashion” designs, and artistic colouring methods. You will be involved in the organisation of promotional activities and events. As part of this course, you will also be required to work on English and Maths and complete an industry placement as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to higher education.

How will I be assessed?
Your practical skills will be assessed through practical observations. You will also be assessed on your theory knowledge throughout the year, by written assignments and online testing.
Will I need equipment for this course?
You will require a kit and a uniform for this course, more information will be provided at your college interview. You will also be required to wear full length black trousers and black covered shoes (e.g., ballet pumps). You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, three beauty salons, two media make up studios and a nail salon. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
