What is this course about?
This Professional Beauty Therapy course will prepare you for an exciting and rewarding career in Beauty Therapy. You will watch demonstrations and practice new techniques from spa manicures to applying flawless make up. You will learn how to advise clients and make recommendations on all their beauty needs through theory sessions, which will enhance your practical skills when using the beauty salons.

Entry Requirements:
You require a minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade 9 – 3 including English Language and Maths or progression from Level 1 Beauty Therapy.
What will this course lead on to?
Progression onto Level 3 Advanced Beauty Therapy or employment in a beauty salon or cosmetic company.
What will I learn on this course?
You will learn all the professional beauty treatments and services in our industry salons which include: Manicure and pedicure techniques, nail art designs, makeup skills, tanning, skincare and facials, waxing and lash and brow treatments, including individual lash application.
As part of this course, you will be also required to work on English and Maths and complete an industry placement, as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to higher education
Enrichment Opportunities:
A wide range of enrichment opportunities are available to you including: Duke of Edinburgh Award, Driving Test Theory, workshops from major product manufactures, trips and visits to competitions and exhibitions, a wide range of industry workshops for e.g., lash lift training, ear piercing, gel nails and 3D Brows.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by on-going practical assessments throughout your course. Your theoretical understanding through assignment work and online tests when you complete practical units.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
You will require a uniform and kit, the Centre of Excellence in Beauty, Hair, Media Makeup and Nails aims to provide all school leavers with a tunic and basic kit when you start your course. You will receive more information at your interview. (This is subject to funding and will be confirmed at enrolment in August.)
You will also be required to wear full-length black trousers and black coloured shoes (eg. ballet pumps). You will also provide files etc for your coursework and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, two beauty salons, a nail services salon and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
