What is this course about?
This one-year course will cover the following topics: A detailed understanding of – Safe Working Practices, Information, Quantities and Communication with Others, Building Methods and Construction, Erect and Dismantle Working Platforms. You will prepare different materials for use in the plumbing process and be able to understand different types of plumbing systems and fittings. You will fit systems in a workshop setting. Completion of assessment pieces will be expected to show competence. You will also have the chance to take part in internal and external competitions at regional and national events.

Entry requirements:
4 GCSEs at grades 9 – 4 including English Language and Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
The successful completion of this course could lead to a Level 3 Qualification or possible apprenticeship programme. During the course you will be encouraged to gain work experience in order to make the transition to the workplace as smooth as possible.
Are additional costs?
Each learner will be asked to purchase work trousers, safety boots, two Riverside College Plumbing Polo shirts, stationary equipment and ring binder with note paper. You will also need to purchase Plumbing textbooks that will cost approximately £25 once you have enrolled on your course and further details will be provided at enrolment.
Enrichment Opportunities:
The College has a full enrichment programme, and all learners are expected to make the most of their time with us, why not enjoy your free time with your tutor group. New enrichment activities include various sports tournaments, table tennis, X-Box competitions, remote control model racing. There will also be various trips and visits throughout the year.
