What is this course about?
This is an in-depth one-year full time course for students who wish to pursue a career in the Motor Vehicle industry. The course will allow students to develop a focused approach to workshop activities and technical studies and provide opportunities to develop functional skills in numeracy and literacy. The programme will allow learners to develop work related skills in preparation for further training or employment.

What will I learn on this course?
You will learn how to work safely and competently in an engineering environment and develop skills in workshop practices to allow you to progress to the next level or to an apprenticeship. You will also have Career development sessions which will involve 1 to 1 discussion with your personal tutor to monitor your progress and support you during your course. On completion of the course, you will be able to confidently diagnose basic vehicle faults and remove and replace most components.
Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 4 GCSE grades 9 – 3 including English Language and Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
On successful completion of this course, you could progress to the IMI Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Alternatively, you could apply for a motor vehicle apprenticeship or employment in the motor trade.

You will have an opportunity to take part in a range of enrichment activities including trips to some of the biggest and most advanced engineering companies in the country, Go-karting, Paintballing and lots of career events featuring local companies. We also run many activities on the College campus including 5-a-side football tournaments, engineering competitions and fund-raising events
How will I be assessed?
You will produce an E-Portfolio of evidence that you will record your practical tasks and assignments. You will also complete a series of on-line tests. You can access your E-portfoilo any time on your phone or on a laptop, photos of your day-to-day working will be uploaded to your portfolio as evidence and can be used to help support job applications.
Any additional costs?
A Course kit list will be provided, this briefly consists of Personal Protective Equipment: College polo shirts, boots, overalls and eye protection. Stationary is also required for your studies, including pens, paper and notepads.
