Hydrogen is recognised as playing a valuable role in delivering low carbon heating and power for UK buildings and industrial processes. The Liverpool City Region is ideally positioned to take full advantage of the new skilled jobs within the sector, including hydrogen specialist pipe welders & fabricators and maintenance engineering technicians. Working with industry, we have designed courses aimed at equipping learners with the skills and knowledge required to consider a role with the fast-growing sector. The courses also explore what high-intensity up-skilling and re-training opportunities could be provided to allow skilled adults to move from one sector to another.
What is this course about?
This course focuses on the modern maintenance and repair skills required to work in modern industry required for the local hydrogen network. We are very well placed in the Liverpool City Region to enter the expanding hydrogen and pipework network, lots of local industry are investing in the hydrogen network.
The aim of the course is to cover the majority of the skills required by industry with regards to maintenance and repair of multiple mechanical and electrical systems all whilst being aware of the health and safety requirements of dealing with hydrogen.
You will cover the following :
- Introduction to the North West Hydrogen plan
- Hydrogen and engineering-specific health and safety
- Introduction to maintenance of hydrogen systems
- Fitting and repair of motors, valves, pumps and storage vessels
- Mechanical and electrical principals
