What is this course about?
This course offers the higher-level skills required for a career in high fashion, TV, film or special effects makeup. You will develop your creative and technical abilities in both makeup and hairdressing to compile a professional portfolio. You will have the opportunity to showcase your skills at both local and national events.

Entry Requirements:
Completion of Level 2 in the subject, plus a minimum of grade 9 – 4 in English Language and Maths. You may be required to attend a trade test.

What will I learn on this course?
By demonstrations and practical activities, you will be able to: Style and fit postiche/wigs, create high fashion and catwalk make up looks, special effects make up, monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon, apply airbrush make up, complete photographic make up looks, create and apply prosthetic pieces and bald caps, design & apply face and body art and style hair to complement makeup looks. As part of this course, you will also be required to work on English and Maths As part of this course you will also be required to work on English and Maths and complete an industry placement, as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to Higher Education

Or college also has links to a makeup and special effects college in Amsterdam.
How will I be assessed?
You will have ongoing practical assessments as your course progresses. You will also be assessed on your theory knowledge throughout the year, by the use of assignments or online testing.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
The full makeup kit cots £144.00 (approximate price). You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, two beauty salons, two media make up studios and a nail studio. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
