What will I learn on the course?
This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various key areas in the IT field. This includes cyber security, where students will learn to protect systems and data from digital threats. The course also focuses on creating digital applications, enabling students to develop software solutions tailored to user needs.
Understanding IT networks is another crucial component of the course alongside providing IT service solutions, equipping students with the skills to support and maintain IT systems effectively.
Students will also learn how to produce digital content, teaching students how to create engaging and effective digital media. Overall, this curriculum is structured to ensure that students are well-prepared for the demands of the IT industry, with a strong foundation in both technical and practical skills.
Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 9 – 3 including English Language and Maths.

Completing this qualification opens up a range of exciting career opportunities in the IT field. Successful students can pursue roles such as junior developer, where they will be involved in coding and software development projects. Another potential career path is that of a content coordinator, responsible for managing and creating digital content across various platforms. Additionally, students can become trainee mobile developers, focusing on the development of applications for mobile devices.
This qualification also provides a solid foundation for further academic pursuits. Students can advance to Level 3 studies, deepening their knowledge and skills in IT. Alternatively, they can opt for a digital apprenticeship, gaining practical experience while continuing their education. This course is designed to ensure that students are well-prepared for both immediate employment and future educational opportunities in the digital and IT sectors.
Enrichment Opportunities
There are a variety of Enrichment activities that you can get involved in ran by the team including; competing in local and national competitions such as the Bebras Computing Challenge, Cyber Discovery and Cyber Centurion and also other academic enrichment activities including access to Cisco IT Essentials, Cisco CCNA and Adobe Certified Associate exams. We also run enrichment activities including Virtual Reality Club and Missing Map Mapathons.
Our students also enhance their studies by taking part in different trips including: EGX – UK’s largest computer game convention, National Media Museum and Bletchley Park – the home of the codebreakers. We also organise international trips, with our most recent one being to Disneyland Paris for Computing Live!
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via internal and external assesments.
Any additional costs?
Standard course materials such as, pen, pencil, and paper will be needed. All students will have their own OneDrive cloud storage that will allow them to access work outside of the classroom. We use the most current software used in industry, but we ensure students will have access to this for free when working from home. You will be required to pay for trips and visits.
