Digital Skills for Life & Work – Entry Level 3

What is this course about? 
The course is intended for people who want to develop their ICT skills when using computers, laptops, or other devices (tablets, mobiles). The course will look at a range of ICT skills designed for beginners.  

What will I learn? 
Basic mouse and keyboard skills to give you confidence to operate a computer, for example, to search the Internet or create documents. You will also be able to set security settings so that you can use the internet safely. 

Basic skills in using an iPad, including how to navigate a tablet, changing the settings and using a variety of apps to help you get the most out of your tablet. 

This course will cover 5 units below: 

• Using devices and handling information
• Creating and editing documents 
• Communicating online 
• Transacting 
• Being safe online 

Additionally, there will be opportunities for you to be supported to improve the personal ICT skills you would like to develop. 

Entry Requirements: 
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, you would be expected to be able to demonstrate the below skills: 

• Be familiar with a range of devices’ basic functions. 
• Understand how to connect to the WiFi and use a web browser.

Assessment: 
At the beginning of the course, you will complete an initial assessment and a self-assessment to identify your strengths and areas to improve. At the end of this course, you will complete a written exam, an onscreen assessment, and an observation will be carried out by your tutor to assess your new skills.  

What will this course lead on to? 
Completion and achievement of this course will allow you to progress on to the Level 1 Essential Digital Skills course.
