This 1-year course will give you the opportunity to gain an understanding of children and young people.

This course covers children of all ages so it allows you to make an informed choice about working with children and young people within a variety of different settings covering different age ranges.
Entry Requirements:
4 GCSEs at Grade 9 – 3 including English Language and Maths.
What will I learn on this course?
You will study a wide range of topics including safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, young people’s development, and supporting children with additional needs. You will carry out a number of mandatory block placements throughout the year within a variety of childcare settings. This course is assessed through 100% coursework.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
You will need to purchase a T-Shirt to wear in College and placement (Polo T Shirt = £7.86, you can also purchase a hoodie = £15.54 hoodie and £17.94 zipped (subject to change). Students will also be expected to complete a DBS, to enable them to attend placement – there is no cost for fully funded students on the course.
What can I progress on to?
Progression onto Health and Care/ Early Years Practitioner course depending on the children’s ages you wish to focus on and future career plans. This course does not give you a License to Practice (to gain employment in a nursery); to achieve this you will need to complete the Level 2 CACHE Diploma Early Years Practitioner.
