What is this course about?
This is a one year programme of study offering you the opportunity to experience different vocational areas to make informed career choices. You will learn about many different sectors of employment. You will be provided with a flexible and engaging programme of learning. The vocational areas you will study include Business, IT and Employability.

During this course you will:

What will I learn on this course?
You will study a variety of units which have included Being Organised, Developing a Personal Progression Plan and Recording Income and Expenditure. You will look at ways in which you can assess yourself and use this to enable you to make an informed decision as to where you want to go with your career. You will improve your maths and English skills so that you are in a position to either progress to a Level 2 course in your chosen discipline or go onto employment
Entry requirements:
4 GCSEs at grade 9 – 2 including English Language and Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
On completion of this course, you can progress to the Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate in Business, Level 2 Technical Certificate or enter employment within an office environment in a wide variety of organisations. You may also choose an apprenticeship in Business, Administration, or IT.
How will I be assessed?
By observation of presentations, role plays and written assignments.
Enrichment opportunities:
It is important during this course that you visit tourism attractions such as The Albert Dock and retail outlets in Widnes and Liverpool 1 to enable you to observe and apply your knowledge. There will be a variety of trips and visits and regular guest speakers and employer input.
Are there any costs associated with the course?
Students are expected to be organised and arrive at class with basic file, paper and stationery. Trips and visits incur additional costs depending on destination; however, there are bursaries also available depending on eligibility.
Facilities:
All lessons take place in classrooms that are fully equipped with PCs and students can access course materials electronically from home via a PC.
