What is this course about?
This qualification is designed to develop higher level skills for a career as an advanced nail technician. Through demonstrations and working on clients in the colleges industry salons, you will learn highly developed nail enhancement techniques which includes 3D nail art services, gel nail systems, liquid and powder nail enhancements and creative nail structures. Your practical skills are combined with the study of business and promotional services. Classes will consist of both 16-18 and adult students.

What will I learn on this course?
On this course you will learn advanced skills in nail services treatments, including; gel and acrylic nail systems, poly dip, 2D and 3D nail art designing, Ombre and marbling techniques, creative nails and drilling techniques. As part of this course, you will be also required to work on English and Maths and complete an industry placement, as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to higher education.
Entry requirements:
Level 2 qualification in Nail Services completed in the last 3 years, unless you have been working within the industry. Working at Level 2 in English on our college assessment or a minimum GCSE grade C/4 or Level 2 English qualification (including reading and writing). You will also have an admissions interview and a trade test as part of the admissions process.
What will this course lead on to?
You will be carrying out assessments throughout the year in preparation for your end of year practical assessment. You will also be assessed on your theory knowledge throughout the year, which will help prepare you for your final written test at the end of each module.

Are there any costs associated with the course?
You will be required to purchase a professional NSI advanced nail kit – £175.00 (TBC), you must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments. A payment scheme is available to help with the purchase of the kit

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including a nail room, three hairdressing salons, two beauty salons and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
