Colleges Raise Almost 1k for Children in Need!
Riverside College and Cronton Sixth Form came together to take part in a number of exciting fundraising activities to raise money for BBC Children in Need.
Over the course of the day, both College students and staff took part in events to raise money for the charity, including a ‘Virtual Duck Race’ which was streamed live on the web, a ‘Virtual Staff Quiz’ which pitted teams of College staff against each other, and a brilliant ‘Staff vs Students Netball Shootout’ tournament.
The College Schools Liaison and Marketing Team challenged themselves throughout the month to complete 1000km by either walking or running. The team worked very hard to complete the inspirational challenge, with some completing over 100km alone, and eventually hit their target while raising lots of sponsorship money along the way.
Students and staff also took part in a ‘Come as Yourself Day’ and wore their own clothes to College in return for a cash donation to BBC Children in Need.
In total, a brilliant £954 was raised for the cause, with donations still coming in.
Natalie Patten, College CHEER Co-ordinator said, “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in Children in Need this year. We had a lot of fun and raised an incredible amount for children across the country.
“We exceeded our total from last year, raising £661 through our JustGiving link in addition to lots of cash donations. Given the circumstances of this year, I’m completely overwhelmed by our staff and student’s generosity.”
