Beauty Students Receive WorldSkills Preparation Masterclass
Students from the Beauty Therapy department at Riverside College were fortunate to receive a masterclass in high profile competition preparation from Sue Simpson, the Worldskills Beauty Therapy Chief Expert and Skills Advisor to EuroSkills Beauty Competitions.
Sue has 40 years of experience as a therapist, salon owner, lecturer, practical examiner, assessor, and internal/external quality assurer. Her impressive background includes training the WorldSkills Great Britain beauty team and also assisting on Worldskills competitions at an international level; the next of which will be taking place in Abu Dhabi.
Sue brought her wealth of knowledge to Riverside College, providing students with expert tips and advice to succeed in their forthcoming WorldSkills UK competitions.
Caitlin Fairbrother (aged 17, from Widnes and formerly of Wade Deacon High School) and Danielle Clutton (aged 17, from Runcorn and previously from The Heath School), both on the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course at Riverside College, are taking part in the WorldSkills UK ‘Beauty Therapy – Hands and Face’ regional heats. The competition is being held at Trafford College on the 15th June 2016.
Lyn Rhodes, Head of Hair, Beauty and Hospitality at Riverside College, said “Thank you to Sue for taking the time to provide our students with expert advice. Our students have gained a lot from the visit and are much more prepared for the heats in June.
We would like to wish Caitlin and Danielle the very best of luck, they have worked very hard making it through to the heats and I know they have the talent to succeed much further in the competition.”
