
Riverside College Celebrates Excellence at Apprenticeship 2025 Awards
National Apprenticeship Week 2025 offered Riverside College a special opportunity to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of its apprentices and recognise the unwavering support of their employers at the prestigious annual Apprenticeship Awards Evening.
In front of an audience of parents, friends, and employers, the event showcased how apprentices had cultivated essential Skills for Life throughout their journey, using them as a foundation for career advancement.
The awards were presented by the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Kevan Wainwright.
The overall Apprentice of the Year award went to the talented Business Administration and Customer Service Apprentice, Laila Kerwin. The SME of the Year went to Sure Safe Electrics Ltd, and the Large Employer of the Year award went to Merseyside Police.

Electrical Installation Apprentice of the Year 2025: Lewis Illing- KDE
Engineering Apprentice of the Year 2025: Michael Hulse, Genlab
Hairdressing Apprentice of the Year: Jessica Brennan, Hannah Davis Hairdressing
Health and Social Care Apprentice of the Year: Cydney-Leigh McCready, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Painting and Decorating Apprentice of the Year: Emily Cook, Ian Williams Ltd
Welding and Fabrication Apprentice of the Year: James Bassett, United Living Energy
Alison Barker, Head of Apprenticeships, said, “It was a privilege to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our apprentices and the support provided by their employers. It was also inspirational to hear about their commitment and resilience and how apprenticeships have continued to grow and provide benefits to apprentices, employers and the local community.”
