Ellis Snape Targeting World Cup Glory in Brazil After England Selection
21 year old Ellis Snape, from Widnes, is goalkeeper for Riverside College’s Foundation Studies football team, which plays monthly tournaments in the North West PAN Ability League.
The team has enjoyed great success, being crowned National Champions and North West Champions in recent years with Ellis playing a major role.
Ellis has been so impressive that he has received the accolade of being selected for the England Learning Disabilities Football Team. The talented player recently started a friendly game against Northern Ireland in which the manager experimented team selections in preparation for the Learning Disabilities World Cup in Brazil this August.
Ellis will now be making the trip to Brazil to take part in the World Cup tournament and represent his country. The England Learning Disabilities Team has enjoyed previous success, winning the World Cup back in 2002.
Riverside coach and College tutor Phil Haden said “Ellis is an outstanding goalkeeper and his talent has been noticed at a National level. All across the College wish him every success when representing at international level in Brazil. Let’s hope Ellis and the squad come home lifting the World Cup”.
