100% A level Pass Rate and 100% Vocational Pass Rate

Best Ever Results!

Students, parents and teachers have celebrated outstanding results with an overall 100% pass rate at A level and 80% high grades.

Vocational students have also been celebrating throughout the summer with a 100% pass rate and 50% achieving the top grades of three distinctions (equivalent to 3 As at A level). These results are the best ever for the College and well ahead of national averages.

The Centre of Excellence in Science and Maths had further cause for celebration with 33% of grades being A* and A.

Callum secures Cambridge place

Callum Stevens has secured a place at Cambridge University to read Natural Sciences. Callum came to Cronton from Penketh High School and has achieved A*s in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths.

He said, “I am delighted with my results and feel really excited about my future both at University and beyond. I have really enjoyed my time at College, the tutors are extremely helpful and you get a lot of support and help with your career aspirations.”

Mary Murphy, College Principal said, “We are absolutely delighted with the outstanding results our students have achieved this year, especially the 100% pass rate and the number who have achieved high grades. They are now making their way to University and in to apprenticeships and employment and we wish them every success.

“We have also been ranked in the top 10% nationally by ALPs (The Advanced Level Performance system). This ALPs ‘Outstanding’ grade means that our students’ achievements are amongst the very best in the country.

“I am also pleased that many of our students have now secured places at top Universities. We have been working extremely hard through our Prestigious Universities Programme to inspire our students to exceed their potential through a wide range of activities which have included residential trips to Oxbridge, international visits and high profile inspirational speakers.”

Students celebrate University success

The atmosphere on A level results day was one of excitement as students realised they had secured their first choice University places, with many going to study at top institutions.

Congratulations go to Andrew Bullock who achieved three A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Andrew came to Cronton from Halewood Centre for Learning and has secured his place at the University of Nottingham to study Natural Sciences. Andrew said, “I am so excited about securing my place at University and the amazing results I have achieved. The College has been fantastic for me, I have had so many opportunities while I have been here.”

Rebecca Preston has secured her place at Loughborough University to study Mechanical Engineering after achieving an A* in Maths, A in Physics and an A in Further Maths. Rebecca came to college from Wade Deacon High School, she said, “I am very pleased, the tutors here are amazing I just could not have achieved these grades without their support.”

Jack Argent, previously of The Bankfield School achieved all As in Chemistry, Biology and History and is now off to The University of Liverpool to study Chemistry. Jack said, “I am really pleased and excited about University. The College has been perfect for me with the specialist Science and Maths Centre of Excellence and the brilliant teachers who are really committed to your achievement.”

Congratulations also go to Sean O’Donnell who achieved A*s in History and Biology, As in Chemistry and General Studies and a B in Maths. Sean came to college from Halewood Centre for Learning and with these grades he has secured a place at the prestigious Hull York Medical School where he will train to be a Doctor.

Chelsea Hicks is celebrating three A* grades in Art, Graphics and Textiles. Chelsea came to the College from Wade Deacon High School. She said “I am absolutely delighted with my results. The Art department at College is brilliant; the teachers are really friendly and work very closely with you.” Chelsea has chosen to come back to the College to study on the Foundation Art programme before heading off to University in 2014.

Luke Howard achieved three A*s in Chemistry, Biology and Maths and an A in Physics. Luke has decided to take a year out and is applying to Oxford University to study Biology in 2014. He said, “I’m really happy to have secured these grades and I’m excited to apply to Oxford for next year. The teachers at College work really hard to support you and the atmosphere at the College is amazing, it is a brilliant place.”
