What is this course about?
This is the opportunity for those who have already completed their Level 2 Hairdressing qualification to improve their hairdressing skills and explore new treatments and advances within the industry. On the course you will improve all your hairdressing techniques, including hair extensions, colour correction and advanced cutting techniques. You will organise and work on photo shoots, hair and fashion shows. Classes will consist of both 16-18 and adult students.

Entry Requirements:
You require a Level 2 in Hairdressing (or equivalent) or previous experience within the hairdressing industry. Working at Level 2 in English on our college assessment or a minimum GCSE grade C/4 or Level 2 English qualification (including reading and writing). You will also have a college admissions interview and a trade test.
What will this course lead on to?
You could progress to salon management or Higher Education Level 4 Hairdressing, employment within a salon or self-employment.
What will I learn on this course?
The course consists of written assignments/tasks/tests and practical assessments. Within the programme, units you will participate in are competition work; advanced cutting techniques, the dressing of hair to create “avante garde” designs, and creative colouring techniques. You will be involved in the organisation of promotional activities/events/fashion shows.
How will I be assessed?
You will be carrying out assessments throughout the year in preparation for your end of year practical assessment . You will also be assessed on your theory knowledge throughout the year, which will help prepare you for your final written test at the end of your course.

Are there any costs associated with this course?
The course requires a full kit (the costs for the level 3 kit are to be confirmed for 2023) and a Tunic top (approximately £25.00 plus postage and packing) – costs TBC. You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments. There may also be a subsidised cost for any trips and industry workshops.

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, three beauty salons, two media make up studios and a nail salon. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
