What is this course about?
This course is ideal for those wanting a career in the hospitality industry working in restaurants or hotels, on a local or international level. You will gain valuable hands-on experience serving customers in our busy College Restaurant. Classes will consist of both 16-18 and adult students.
Theory assignments will give you the underpinning knowledge to assist your understanding of the topics within practical areas. You will have the opportunity to take part in prestigious external events with national catering and hospitality companies.

What will I learn on this course?
You will cover a range of subjects including: Safety at work, Hygiene at work, Security at work, personal skills, menu knowledge, billing, pre-service, table service and beverage service, silver service, counter service, carvery and buffet service and table drinks service.
Entry Requirements:
Working at Level 1 on our college assessment or a minimum GCSE grade D/3 or Level 1 English qualification (including reading and writing). You will also have a college admissions interview.
What will this course lead on to?
On successful completion of the Food and Beverage Services course employment opportunities exist in hotels, restaurants and cruise liners – both at home and abroad. You may wish to progress on the Level 3 Advanced Food and Beverage Service qualification, which allows you to develop supervisory and management skills for industry or can allow you to progress onto higher education studies in areas such as catering or events management.
How will I be assessed?
During the programme you will be assessed in practical work, multiple choice questions and assignment work.

Are there any costs associated with this course?
As part of your Catering and Hospitality programme you will purchase your uniform for the restaurant (approximately £95). Costs are TBC.
Facilities:
You will learn in our Centre of Excellence in Catering and Hospitality and will work in a newly refurbished and very popular restaurant Scholars. All practical sessions will help give you the practical skills, confidence and the overview of what the catering and hospitality industry can offer.
