What is this course about?
This one year Level 2 qualification has been developed in order to equip those wanting to pursue a highly rewarding career within the caring sector with the skills required to ensure you are an asset to prospective employers.

Entry Requirements:
4 GCSEs at grade 9 – 3 including English Language and Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
Successful completion of this nationally recognised course may lead directly to employment in the caring services e.g., day care, residential or community work. Alternatively, you may choose to progress on to a level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma.
What will I learn on this course?
During the course you will study a range of health and social care related subjects including Health and Care services, human lifespan and development, individual needs in health and social care. You will also undertake a compulsory work experience within a range of care environments including residential and nursing homes.
Enrichment Opportunities:
Visits to care facilities, raising money for charities, taking part in the college wide enrichment programme.
How will I be assessed?
You will achieve the qualification by completing a range of assignments for each unit. There will also be two external assessments. You must also complete a minimum of 60 hours in placements, supported by our dedicated placement officer.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
You will need a clear DBS check. Students will wear a uniform in college and placement. You will find out about the Health and Care polo shirt and Hoodie at your enrolment in August.
Facilities:
Our fantastic simulated ward with manikin patients and an accessible care suite helps students to experience a real work environment. You will be able to carry out many practical elements of the course such as taking blood pressure, checking heart rates and pulse, and practice moving and handling.
