Riverside Complementary Therapy students selected for National competition.
Three students who trained at Riverside College are preparing to travel to the NEC in Birmingham for the National UK Skills competition on the 15 – 17th November 2012.
This event is the biggest skills and careers event in the UK and is an annual celebration of all skills.
After winning Gold, Silver and Bronze in the North West UK Skills heats, Natalie Millard, Naomi Lea and Meghan McErlean, who have recently completed the Level 3 in Complementary Therapies are now ready to put their skills to the test in Birmingham against seven other competitors for a chance to represent the UK in the International World skills competition in Lepizig, Germany in 2013.
Sarah Fillaudeau Complementary Therapies tutor at Riverside College said, “I was blown away when I received three separate emails from the UK Skills inviting Natalie Millard Gold winner, Naomi Lee Silver winner and Meghan McElearn Bronze winner to compete for a place in the UK Skills Team for 2013. I emailed all three girls to congratulate them on their achievement.”
“This is a great achievement for our department and I am so proud of the girls, they have worked really hard and fully deserve a chance of representing the UK in the World Skills competition in Lepzig in 2013. It’s an honour to be leading three Riverside College students into this prestigious event, it just shows that with passion and determination dreams can come true.”
Natalie, who won the regional Gold medal and is now working in Clarins Spa in Liverpool, said, “I was really excited when I when my tutor Sarah contacted me and said that I had been invited to compete in Birmingham. The UK Skills competition will be a fantastic opportunity to put all of my knowledge and skills to the test and it is wonderful that I can share it with Naomi and Meghan as we can support each other throughout the whole event. I feel nervous but prepared for the challenge and I know I couldn’t have achieved all of this without the fantastic teaching staff at Riverside College and the help and support they gave.”
